Fantasy Football, already?

Every year I get together with a couple of family members and co-workers to set up a fantasy football league. This year I was talking about last years disappointments and thing like that when I mentioned that I came across a new website. The website is called the American Fantasy Football League.

We all know how competitive fantasy football leagues can get. AFFL.com gets everything together for you all in one place to make it as easy as it can for you. There are 5 levels of membership from FREE to $1,200 entry fee. With prizes rewarded for various things throughout the fantasy football season. I am thinking of getting my family together and trying out this site, which is new to me. I like to try different ones based on ease of use, downtime of the site, design of the site and of course the prizes. Take a look at the rules and regulations before you get started to make sure it's legal for you to join and play the paid membership levels. As always the FREE members are open to anyone.

Song of the Day

I am not sure if any one else but me noticed, but I put up a "song of the day" to download. I will be posting these as I come across them while traveling through the "back in the day" memories. Most of them will be older and most likely 80's rap or rock :) Hopefully you enjoy them and if you haven't heard of them, give them a try and see what you think.

Bug: Movie Trailer

bug movie trailer. This movie looks quite interesting, almost a breath of fresh air when it comes to this type of movie. In that, I mean the idea or story seems original. Bug movie, reminds of movies like "28 Days Later" in a way. I think it will be a hit for those who are into this type of thriller suspense movie.

I like suspense thrillers and horror movies. The trailer was enough to grab my attention and after I saw the movie poster, I was even more curious. It sort of looks like a bug and is quite intriguing. Once I saw the trailer I was impressed by how the poster pulls me into what the trailer shows.

Bugs that will get into your blood stream and feed on your brain. Hopefully this isn't a dud, because it could cause quite a stir throughout the country. Maybe even as big a stir as Jaws did or The Blair Witch Project.
I have seen a lot of movies like this that are well done. The two mentioned above were done perfectly and the actors fit the part. The trailer looks creepy, sort of made my skin crawl a bit. I will not be able to wait to see this one in the theaters with surround sound. I usually like to post reviews here as well, I will just add this one to my list now. Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think.

Weather of the Day

The weather today was fantastic, finally. I am from the Midwest and we have all be waiting for weather like we had today. Warm south wind and sunshine most of the day, it's pretty much the best you can ask for this time of the year. Of course, we'll probably see snow one more time :)

Hopefully the weather lasts so that I can get some much needed yard work done. My dog has been itchin' to get outside as well. Hope all is well. Have a good day!

Coupon Chief has What You Need

A lot more people are shopping online these days. I like to search for coupons online before I go to checkout. Websites like, Coupon Chief, allow merchants to post coupons for potential customers to use. The customer will take the coupon codes and click through to the merchants site to use it. In return the merchant is getting more targeted traffic for their products.

Recently my girlfriend went to Coupon Chief to check and see if they had some coupons for Proflowers.com to get flowers for Mother's Day. They did and they have over 1,000 other stores as well. Check them out today and don't forget flowers for Mother's Day!

Brain Tumor Treatment Awareness

Have you ever heard of radiosurgery? I know a young lady with cancer that has tumors all over her body, including her brain. Her and her family have tried all conventional treatments, but I am not sure if they tried radiosurgery.

With all the valuable information here, I don't see why anyone with a tumor or similar situation wouldn't give radiosurgery a try. Visit the above links for more information on this topic.
Snip taken from http://www.braintumortreatment.org:

"Accuracy is the single most important aspect
of stereotactic radiosurgery
Gamma Knife radiosurgery sets the bar for accuracy, with guaranteed precision that enhances physician confidence and ensures patient safety.1
This superior level of accuracy is due to three factors:
1. Gamma Knife was designed specifically to provide the very best radiosurgical treatment of brain tumors
2. The radiation source never moves
3. The patient’s head is stationary
When treating a target as delicate as the brain, neurosurgeons try to avoid any movement that might reduce accuracy. CyberKnife, a linear accelerator used to treat the whole body, has a continually moving arm."

Mothers Day is Coming!

What are you getting your mother for Mother's Day? I hate this, but I usually wait until the last minute because I always think something will just jump up at me. Nothing ever does and I usually find myself walking around a department store or flower shop looking for anything but usually something specific to my mothers interests.

I am sure I am not the only one, at least I hope not :)

Customer Testimonials Worth Viewing?

"I love you. You are awesome. Thank you so much for your prompt response to my original query. Not only surprised at how cool you are, but also tremendously appreciative. Please do charge my card on file for the original merch. I'd rather keep it and support your good works than put the shoes in the landfill. I can use them for more humble pursuits. You are awesome. Thank you so much, Carly S."

This is a customer review or testimonial from giant shoe retailer Zappos.com. Just reading it sort of made me wonder if customer testimonials are legit, or worth it for that matter. It really has nothing to do with the website or purchase and makes me think. I just thought I would post this and see what others think about it.

Digg.com; have you been there?

Digg.com is a website that allows it's users to upload stories about news, technology, science, world & business, sports and even reviews on games, movies and television shows.

I have uploaded a couple of things to experiment on the site to see if that specific link gets additional traffic from Digg.com. I have only one story uploaded that has 5 diggs, but that is it. You really have to upload an interesting story to get people to digg! it and for it to end up on the front page, then the "diggs" will come a knockin'.

Some people, according to stories on the front page today, some people are not a fan of Digg.com and the stories that end up on the site. Take a look for yourself, add a story from your local newspaper, just for fun :)

Ban Dry Skin & Sore Throats with a Humidifier!

Suffer from dry skin in the cold, dry Winter months? Do you wake up with a soar throat when the air is cool and dry? I live in the Midwest where the Winter months can be long, cold and dry. My skin is super dry and requires me to moisturize daily. Dry skin and soar throats are caused mainly by low humidity. Buying a humidifier would be the perfect solution.

After doing some research on whether or not to get a "whole house" or "single room" unit, I decided to pick one up. I found the home humidifiers buying guide. This helpful website was full of information, tips and comparisons. Compare two different types of humidifiers, check out some desirable features and view some of the top brands in the business.

I am extremely happy with my whole house humidifier and I think it made a great deal of a difference this past Winter. In the past I have used the single room units and was never really that impressed. I say, get the whole house unit, why not feel comfortable all day rather than just at night?

Talk Your Business Elsewhere?

I just got done reading an article on MSN Money website, that stated that 40% of customers who rated the customer service of a company as "poor", though SPRINT was the worst. The article is quite informing, as well as, eye-opening.

How come these companies can't do anything about their customer service? Think about it, it's not that they can't, it's that they don't have to. How you ask? Bank of America, which also made the list, has such a high % of America's deposits that sooner or later, we won't have a choice who we bank with. Bank of America or nobody.

I like the tone of the article and how it presents it's data. Take a look.

Work: Day 3 out of 3

Today I am sitting here at work, yes on a Saturday, with a crap load of things to do, but no ambition to do so. I work in a factory that is clean, smaller and full of people that just "love" their jobs :) Who am I kidding? Who likes to work?

Now that the temps are starting to climb before 8AM, having to work is even more difficult than it was when was 15 degrees outside. Oh yeah, that was only 2 weeks ago! Stupid weather.

Anyways, today is my last day of my 3-day work week :) The 4 days off that I have coming up are looking pretty darn nice at this point. Hopefully the weather holds just where it is at right now. I will be keeping my figures crossed.

Well, I should get back to what I do for a living, at least for now, then maybe my day will cruise by just a little faster.

DDO.com is Doing it Again

I play the online game, or MMORPG, called Dungeons and Dragons Online, or DDO. The game is fun and can be exciting, except for the tactics that are used seemingly to get more people online on a specific day.

The gamemasters, as they are called, put up notices on the forums about a special day coming up soon, so stay tuned. Today, I pop open the program that's needed to play the game and I am met with a message of another such tactic. "Hide and Seek" is what this one is called. Any one person or team that finds Sir Lawrence get a special weapon, that in my opinion isn't all that great to begin with.

It just makes me laugh a little that's all, and of course there is nothing wrong with a little bit of laughter in a day.

Windows: blinds or curtains?

As I sit here and look at my living room windows, I wonder if they would look better with just curtains, curtain/blind combo or just blinds? Right now, they currently have white blinds and a lacey type curtain behind that. Not really sure why that is, but it may or may not be for decoration. Otherwise it may be because when the blinds are open, the curtains still provide some sort of privacy from the outside world. Either way, that is what we have now and I guess I will have to remove one or the other to see how they look. In the meantime, I can check out what blinds are available at Terrys Fabrics.

I, personally, like blinds because they can be both closed all the way, or opened, by the turn of the rod or pull of the strings. Curtains, to me, always seemed so old fashioned. Anywho, I would like to let you know that Terry Fashions sells blinds and other window treatments.

Ads on This Blog

I am sitting here this afternoon trying to decide if I should just drop the auctionads.com ads AND the YPN ads from my blog. I am interested in blogging and wouldn't mind to make a little extra money from it, but I am just not sure if it makes my blog appear "hokey" if you will. I want my readers to be able to feel like coming back for more reading and enjoy their stay without ads popping up all over the place at them. I don't feel like the auctionads.com ads are in the way, I actually think it's a great idea for bloggers. You just never know when people are going to see something they want, especially hard to find items on eBay!

I do have some posts on here from payperpost.com, and that is the way I plan to make most of the money on this blog. I have to try and find a topic or niche to place this blog around and hopefully the reader loyalty will start to mount. Comment if you have any suggestions.

Payperpost Acquires .... "a company"

So, what company did they acquire? This is coming only a short time after Google.com announces they have acquired advertising company, Doubleclick. Could they have collected another advertising company in hopes of getting more advertisers? Did they acquire another community in hopes of getting more bloggers? Technorati? Text-link-ads? eBay?

I know, we can all dream, right? In case you haven't heard, Payperpost is a website that offers bloggers the chance to make money from an advertiser that has chosen them to post on a blog about an online ads they pay for. If you have a new product and you want BUZZ, you pay us bloggers to create that buzz with some short quick posts about the product and we are in turn given a portion of the payment made to Payperpost. Critics have gone wild stating that this will only corrupt the blogsphere with blog posts for products and services the bloggers have never seen or used. I, on the other hand, think it's a good thing for bloggers. They have followers; they are an audience that a major advertiser may want to reach. What is wrong with paying money to get your ad out there in front of people you want to sell a product or service too?

The online buzz that a blog can create is priceless. Payperpost.com puts the bloggers out there with the advertisers’ ads and makes it all happen quite seamlessly. I think that no matter what type of company it is, Payperpost.com has already had to of figured that it will be better for the Posties.

We Can Finally Enjoy the Weather

Now that Spring has finally decided it was time to show up for work, at least in the Midwest, people are crawling out of the wood work to get outside and enjoy every bit of sun that they can. "It's valuable!", says one excited resident, "You have to get out and about otherwise before you know it Winter is here again."

That's right folks, Winter is right around the corner again. I depend on Accuweather.com's forcast to keep me smiling as long as the sun is out and the temp isn't -10. They show radar, satellite images, 1, 5, 10, or 15 day forcasts and I must say they are quite accurate :)

Check out the site so you know when you can expect to get sun burn this time of year. You can also have them send email updates of the weather in case you never leave your computer long enough to look out the window.

Wife of Nationally Recognized Ultra-Marathon Runner Dies in House Fire

The wife of a well known marathon runner has died in a house fire on the south-side of Sheboygan. Gail Pirrung is the wife of Roy Pirrung, a nationally recognized ultra-marathoner who writes a weekly column for The Sheboygan Press. The fire that appeared to be started by smoking materials, was concentrated in the living room area. The two alarm fire was out within 8 minutes.

All the neighbors could do was watch. They tried banging on the doors and windows, but nobody showed. Fearing that opening a door or window may cause more harm, they just stood outside and waited for the fire fighters to arrive.

All of our prayers go out to Gail's husband Roy and their children.

Saw III at Movies.Yahoo.com

Have you seen Saw III yet? Well I have had this movie from netflix sitting on my coffee table for almost 2.5 months now. What's taking so long? I am not sure. Everytime we sit down to watch it, we find another reason to watch it later. The most recent was that we wanted to watch it on the big screen. Which is of course, the home theater type setup I have in our basement. It's pretty basic with nothing fancy at all. I bought a Dell 2400MP Multimedia Projector from the Dell website. About $1250 delivered to my door. My screen is a piece of laminated plywood that I painted FLAT white with a simple black border around the whole thing. I have a basic Kenwood surround system to go with it. When the lights are out, the projector on and the stereo cranked, it really makes for a different movie type experience. So, next time I try to watch the movie it will be on the big screen, hopefully sooner than later!

Have you ever been in the wrong place at the wrong time? I just read a story in our regional newspaper about a van that was carrying 6 adults to Florida for Spring Break. It makes me think about the things I do everyday and wonder if by doing my normal routine I will be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Ahhhhh, daylight saving time

I went to bed lastnight feeling real good about seeing the sun longer. Then I had to wake up this morning to go to work (about 6AM CST) and I had to see that it was still dark outside. It kind of put a damper on the whole situation I was enjoying the day before. I know that in time it will be light out again when I get up for work, it was just the initial sadness to see it dark again.
Winters are so unpredictable in the Midwest and can be way too long, that it is so nice to get away from it as soon as you can. I am sure anyone living in this area can say the same thing. Now I get to look forward to planting flowers and working in the yard. I may post some pictures of my projects even now and again so stay tuned.

Science of Sleep

Have you been able to check this movie out? The title is "The Science of Sleep" and I am not sure what is really going on, but there are some serious undertones in the movie. I think the reviews and comments made here are very close to the way I felt when the movie was over. It's a fun movie to watch, but I think I will have to see it again to be able to catch every little thing that is happening or what they mean. The main character is artistic and stuck in a job he doesn't want. When he sleeps, his dreams come alive and are a large part of the movie. If you want to watch a movie that keeps your mind thinking and has come very funny parts, then I recommend this one for sure!

Sue a doctor, BUT not your mechanic?

A co-worker and I were talking about medical insurance the other day and he made a very good point in my opinion.
People who want to sue a doctor for WORKING ON A HUMAN body and possibly misdiagnosing something should be thinking about how many times their mechanic misdiagnosed problems with their automobile.
I never thought about it that way before. A human body is so complex from one to the next, yet many automobiles are the same in many ways. Wouldn't it make sense that a doctor could possibly misdiagnose while working on something as complex as the human body.
With the education doctors have, compared to the education of a mechanic, you'd think you should be able to sue your mechanic (since autos are less complex) when you have to return there for multiple parts or repairs that don't seem to fix the problem you went in there with.
Doctors go through more schooling and constant training, yet they are targeted right away when there is an issue with their performance. This is disregarding any malicious intent by the doctor of (which may be more likely in a shifty mechanic) course.
What do you think?

Do you YouTube?

YouTube brings MILLIONS of people together in an all out "let's post whatever we can about whatever we want" free-for-all in the largest compilation of videos on the web. If you have never been to YouTube.com, I recommend it for a laugh a day, but also recommend you free up about 4-5 hours to browse the site. YouTube's extreme addictive navigation system will keep you on the site looking for more. With many bragging rights INCLUDING having MORE pageviews per month than MTV viewers, this site, just acquired by Google.com, is going places and making stars of many people every month.

Churches and the good old exorcism

I like to watch "A Haunting" on the Discovery Channel when I have time. One thing that I always found interesting is that when there is a demonic spirit bothering a family, a church will have no problem telling them they have some demons, but have a HUGE problem helping them with it.

What I have noticed in a couple of shows most recently was the first thing the priest asks is if they are a member of the church. WTF? Should this matter? You telling me that if I was a member (and I think they mean "paying" member) I would get help faster? I think that is such a crock. Or, you have the priest trying to tell you it's nothing, because there is this underlying feeling that he doesn't want anyone else in the church to hear about it and freak everyone out.

I just don't think that they should even question what religion you are. If you go to any church for help, they should be willing. Right? Am I over the line on this one? I guess I always thought one safe place I could get help was a church, but now I am thinking quite differently about it.

Las Vegas shelter kills 1,000 dogs, cats

Don't you think the management in charge at this place would be able to see this is happening? I have soft spot for any animal and I just can't imagine not taking care of one's problems so long that 1,000 others suffer from it. When you are in charge of this many there should be some standard policies and procedures in place. At least then, if one person isn't following the procedure, they can be canned and it may save the life of other animals.

On a side note, I think that these shelters are over populated because there are too many people that take a pet in and don't stick around to be responsible for the pets care. The next step is taking it to a shelter for someone else to take care off it. These people should not be allowed to ever adopt again. One time I can understand if it slips through the cracks, but if this person is bringing pets in all the time cause they "can't" (or don't) want to take care of them, they should be blacklisted. My opinion of course. And to have your pet spayed or neutered will help keep the population under control.

Do you use Epinions.com?

For about 4 months now I have been posting reviews on epinions.com. Do you use comparison shopping search engines when you shop online? Are the users reviews helpful to you when you compare? I like to provide a small service in my opinion on certain products I have used either at home or in the office. Epinions.com is the perfect outlet for this hobby of mine and it has become quite addicting I might add. Check it out if you have even seen the site or are interested in writing your own reviews. They compansate you for your time with income sharing, don't worry, there is no referral system in place. This post is only a shameless plug for my profile of reviews :)

Poor Anna Nicole

Is anyone else not feeling bad about this situation? I have a hard time feeling sorry for people in this situation since it was themselves that got them there. I am a firm believer that your create your own life and what you say and do directly effect the outcome. If you are going to be hopped up on drugs and bounce from husband to husband, apparently "possibly" having a child with all of them, then too bad for you. Listening to her mother talk it almost seems like she isn't surprised one bit. Read the story and I'll let you decide.

Guys that have girls, but still look for others

I am sitting here listening to a guy, who has a girl, talk about how many "bitches" emailed him today. What is he doing? Why is he with someone that, which seems obvious, he doesn't want to be with? Everyday he goes into his email and excitedly reads through them one by one. Talking about how all these hot "bitches" want to be with him, but are from another country. YEP! He is getting scammed and thinks all these woman want to be with HIM! What a moron! He will stay in contact with them, whether it's one day or month, until the woman asks for money to get into the country. I just sit here and nod my head and think, what an idiot, I thought everyone in the world knew about those scams. It also makes me think that he may have sent money once already and that is why the communication stops at the money part. Who knows, all it does is add to my daily entertainment. I have to be at work anyways, why not enjoy a little bit of it?

Spam and Junk Email Folders a waste?

SpamKiller

I hate spam. I know everyone does, but I really hate it. I was just checking my "junk" folder today [I know I shouldn't have to] and I was thinking about why I have to check it everyday. Has anyone else had this issue? Well, for a long time I wasn't checking it [at yahoo] and all of a sudden I get a phone call about some big family get together that was apparently planned via email [to reach everyone in a organized manor] and the email got DUMPED into my "junk" folder!!

What is the point if someone ELSE is judging whether or not my email is junk or not? I know there are rules to put into effect, BUT you usually only do that after the fact.

So, day-to-day I find myself looking into the "junk" folder to make sure there isn't anything important. I have to search through and make sure I am not deleting anything of importance. I know there are various ways to avoid this, but are they available for everyone's situation with email? What about that guy that can't have any other email than yahoo.com? Too much time is wasted on JUNK email. It will be the next thing researched just to find out how much time you waste on it in your life. [I am sure that's been done already, too]

What do you know about your city's "Finest"?

Where I live we have what I call, "cream of the crop". Usually a little article or so in our local newspaper that outlines the dumbass actions of criminals in our area. Things like passing a fake $20 bill that is only printed on ONE side or someone trying to smuggle drugs INTO jail inbetween their toes. Stories like that pepper our local newspaper every week and it can get quite a bit entertaining.

I run to the newspaper everyday to check and see if I can read about the latest and greatest dumbass crimes that are committed in our, some say small, some say large, city.

Just a random rant.

Enjoy!
